本作改編自同名動畫，也是系列最新作品。遊戲故事源自dvd版的《海綿寶寶10週年驚喜時刻》，蟹老闆將招牌漢堡的秘方交給海綿寶寶保管，結果他卻不慎遺失。感到苦惱的海綿寶寶不得不求助與蟹老闆勢不兩立的痞老闆的幫助，卻不知痞老闆的最終目的是為了將秘方據為己有。為了趕在蟹堡王店慶週年前找回丟失的秘方，海綿寶寶在眾好友的幫助下使用痞老闆的記憶機器回溯起了自己最開心的時光……另外遊戲在操作上支持動作強化件motionplus的使用。
新的古怪變形能力：玩家可以將海綿寶寶變成錘子來敲爛入侵者、變成水柱海綿來噴射水擊暈敵人，甚至還可以變成炮彈轟爛壞蛋。
搞笑滑稽的情節：遊戲借由「海綿寶寶人生最快樂的10個片段」讓玩家重溫觀眾最愛的海綿寶寶片段，以及卡通裡許多歡樂的情節。
與親朋好友同樂：玩家可以單獨遊戲，也可以讓好友扮演痞老闆一起過關，而本作將有多人聯機合作過關模式。
刺激的新關卡：遊戲共有10個刺激的關卡，可讓玩家盡情地跑、跳和旋轉。當然，玩家可能會碰到許多卡通裡的老面孔，並且對付變形的超大體型頭目。
深入體驗海綿寶寶的世界：玩家在體驗前作和卡通裡所有最愛的角色時，將可重遊海綿寶寶最令人回味的地方，例如市區bikini bottom、krusty krab等。
