《太空戰士水晶編年史》系列的最新作，本作是世界上第一套實現了 ds 和wii 同時進行連線的遊戲。通過wi-fi，可以在世界各地的玩家內在 ds 或者wii上進行最大4人的連線冒險。

對於一些特殊操作，ds 將使用觸筆；wii 將使用控制器進行。在 wii 上用 mii製作的角色，也可以在ds上出現！更可以通過全新搭載的聊天系統和隊友進行即時交流。

故事採用原創主人公系統，玩家可以從4 個種族中選擇自己喜歡的角色。本作講述了迎來成人之日的16歲主角第一次走出村外，為了解開巨塔的水晶之謎，向著未知的世界開始冒險的故事。
